We restarted a domain controller and we encountered the following error
There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request
Issue
The server was rebooted into “safe mode” after the restart and we could no longer log on using our domain admin accounts or connect to the DC using the member servers.
Solution
Logon to the domain controller using the DSRM credentials
Start the System Configuration (msconfig) and navigate to Boot
Deselect ‘Safe boot’
Click on Apply
Restart the server and afterward you can logon to the domain controller and verify if the Domain Services are running
it’s work !! Thanks
Any idea why this happens and/or how to fix it permanently? I’ve had this happen 2 months in a row after updates.
Hi Adam,
I currently have no idea why this happened to me and is happening to you.
I believe this could happen when the network card “forgets” the connection or something happened to it but thats a wild guess.
Also no permenant fix at this moment as it should be one of those issues that occur very often.
Kind regards,
Maarten

Same thing happened to me today from updating a client’s server
Spent a good 6 hours, trying to resolve include multiple reboots. Even had the wife there getting tired.
Got home, searched online, found your blog, logged in and fixed that damn SERVER!!!

….same thing happened 3 months ago but MS resolved the issue at a charge of $700 USD. They never told me how they fixed it either.
